ANDY'S CORNER

A message from Andy Charles, President and CEO
This November, AIG United Guaranty celebrated its first anniversary since entering the Canadian marketplace. Over the past year, we have expanded our team and increased our reach across the country. The strong support we received from industry professionals enabled us to establish important relationships as we continue to demonstrate our dedication to service, common sense underwriting and our commitment to innovation.
Having arrived in 2006, and representing the first new competition in 10 years, we approached the market with a fresh perspective on mortgage insurance. We announced our entrance with the introduction of numerous products and enhanced solutions to help lenders and mortgage professionals better serve Canadian homeowners. As a result, through support for increased competition and your desire for a new experience, AIG United Guaranty has made impressive strides this past year.
Looking forward to 2008, our focus remains on the lender and broker communities. Initiatives designed to strengthen the relationships between our industry colleagues will rely on the ongoing feedback we encourage from lenders and through the Broker Advisory Board. Working with industry leaders from across the country, we are eager to continue discussions that enable us to gain a better understanding of our partners’ needs and help us develop essential tools to better serve our community.
I couldn't be more pleased about the progress AIG United Guaranty has made and the changes we have ignited within the mortgage insurance market. We continue to evolve and look forward to forging new relationships with lending and mortgage professionals in the coming year.
On behalf of the AIG United Guaranty team, I would like to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and safe holiday season. Thank you for helping us make 2007 a tremendous success!

Women Homebuyers – The Untapped Market
|
|
There’s a
new category of homebuyer in need of recognition. More single women are buying houses than ever before – and why not? Women today are living longer, delaying marriage and are more aware of their finances, recognizing that owning a home can help them build wealth and provide funds for retirement, or their children’s education. Many young women are choosing not to wait for a spouse to purchase a home, while mature women are finding themselves single after divorce or the death of a spouse, and are therefore buying a home, for the first time, alone.

In Response … Perspectives from Industry Professionals
|
|
Audrey Wamboldt shares her perspective on the importance of recognizing women homebuyers in today’s market.
Women are no longer waiting to marry or receive approval to purchase their first home, nor are they looking to traditional sources for financing approval. In fact, women lead the charge when researching and selecting a mortgage professional or lender, whether they are in the traditional family role or on their own. With access to a myriad of information available on the internet, through women's expos and trade fairs, or simply by talking with trusted sources, women are taking control of choosing mortgage products that best fit their lives and the professionals that help them to make those choices.
